The Jever Gliding Club was a group of German enthusiasts who were given permission to use the airfield around July 1955 with the proviso that RAF personnel could fly with them.   The 2 seater shown here had aileron and elevator controls for the front seat only.   The instructor in the back had to reach over to take control using the front stick, both positions had rudder pedals.   Thanks to Mike Charles, who used to be active in the Gliding Club at this time, he thinks that the man is Heinz Knocke, the wartime Luftwaffe ace who was stationed at Jever during the war.   (Thanks to Les Birch.)
