Standard Operational Procedures for
No. 122 Wing RAF Jever
                             RESTRICTED. Page 19

     (c) If the controller is having trouble in identifying you on the
climb out help him with fixes (visual or DME/DME).

     (d) Fly the target formation to give sighting and attack problems
     to the fighters.

     (o) Insist on PIDGEONS from G.C.I. at each "TALLYHO". Operationally
this may be the last time you have a radio - it may be damaged in
     combat.

     (f) Be fuel conscious. Plan to your fuel limit but remember the
difference in consumption between target and fighter.

     (g) Don't use the G.C.I. like a G.C.A. for let downs. Accept a
final "pidgeons" and. revert to navigation within your formation.

     (h) Be critical in your sortie debrief. Find out what went wrong and
endeavour to correct it. If you think the controller was at fault
talk to him about it but remember that H.S.I.'s are training for him
as well, and you both can't he right the whole time.
