			        PART II
			    LIMITATIONS
    45. Engine data -Derwent 8 and 9
The principal engine limitations are as follows:-

		Power rating |
		Time limit |
		Maximum permissible r.p.m. |
		Maximum permissible j.p.t. (°C) |

Take-off climbing and operational necessity |
		15 mins |
		14,700 ±100* |
		680 (700 above 20,000 ft for ten minutes) |

		Maximum continuous |
		No limit |
		14,100 |
		630 |

Idling on ground (throttle closed) |
		No limit |
		3,300-3,700 |
		500 |

* A governor on the engine-driven fuel pump restricts the r.p.m. to 14,500
at sea level but with the throttle fully open r.p.m. may increase progressively
to 14,700 with height.
         Oil pressures
         Minimum for idling	...	...	... 5 lb./sq, in.
         Minimum at 14,100 r.p.m. and above	...	30 lb./sq, in.
    46. Flying limitations
    (a) The aircraft is designed for the duties of an advanced
fighter trainer. Practice spinning up to two turns is per-
mitted when the aircraft is clean, or when the ventral tank
is fitted but empty (see para.63). Maximum rate turns and
other manoeuvres involving high G are prohibited when
there is fuel in the ventral tank.

WARNING.-It is possible to cause excessive G loading
by flying the aircraft out of trim.
