John Beaumont of 112 Squadron fishing in a lake next to the airfield.   I never realised that there were lakes so close to the boundary.   Marcus Christ has just sent me details of the sale of the GAF Jever Married Quarters.   Below is one of the maps contained in the pack and it shows lakes just west of the quarters and the athletics track underneath the shaft of the red arrow.   I presume that the buildings in the background of the photograph are the MT Yard buildings.   John tells us: "The Jever lake, that was within a few minutes walk from the airfield, was owned by a very agreeable, elderly German gent who let it be used for leisure purposes.   It was a very pleasant little retreat to escape to on a Wednesday afternoon and Johnny Fox, my pal from the Squadron, spent many a happy hour there until we were detached to Bruggen.   The pictures were taken about May 53."   The word "Bad" (Swimming Pool) refers not to the Station swimming pool, which was the smaller of the little black squares about half an inch due South across the camp perimeter road   [Click to see], but to these lakes as the later aerial photograph below shows.   (Thanks to John Beaumont and Maurice Parker.)
