"Tribute Paid to 2nd ATAF Pilot   Members of the 2nd ATAF's aerobatic team paid tribute to their former flying comrade, Flying Officer Brian A. E. Sanderson, during the Armed Forces Day show at Spangdahlem AB last Saturday.   Thousands of persons witnessed their brilliant performance which was one of the sparkling highlights of the spectacular AFD exhibition at this Base.
Flying Officer Sanderson, number four man in the Hawker Hunter team, lost his life in the tragic crash of his Hunter Mark VI aircraft Friday afternoon, May 17.   The 23-year-old RAF officer, whose home was in Bulawayo, Southern Rhodesia, joined the RAF in South Africa in 1951.   He had been stationed at Jever Air Base since 1953.   In addition to being a member of No 93 Squadron Jever's Hawker Hunter formation aerobatic team, he was an avid soccer player on the 2nd ATAF soccer team.   Flying Officer Sanderson is survived by his wife of 19 months and one child."   (Thanks to RAF Museum.)
