93 Sqn Linebook No. 2 - Page 73 I think it was Pete Raeburn who fell off the back of a lorry and broke his arm.   This was some time after 17Jan59 as the bottom half refers to the web master Mick Ryan's first purchase of a motor car - a light blue Volkswagon Beetle.   Jeremy Hall and I went up to Kiel by train to collect it.  Very brave of Jeremy since I had never driven a car before.   I arrived on the squadron never having had a driving licence.  The Boss, Paddy Minnis, was a bit taken aback when I was made Officer i/c Transport as my secondary squadron duty and I explained that I could not drive.   There I was driving a 10,00 lb thrust Hunter round the skies of Germany but couldn't drive a car.   I was immediately dispatched to the M.T. Yard where I was taught to drive on a 3½ ton Magirus-Deutz lorry, (bottom picture), with a crash gearbox.   My wife says it still shows in my current driving style!   (Thanks to RAF Museum.)
