Report on a Visit to German Air Force Jever by Mick Ryan, Chris Stone, Gunter Kipp and Maurice Parker
on Tuesday/Wednesday 16/17th August 2005

After lunch we were shown the facility, in a hangar opposite the old Tech Wing Hangar, where surplus Tornados are stripped of all their high value items which are then repackaged and put back into the GAF Tornado supply chain.   The GAF has reduced its original 294 Tornados to 196 today and what will be eventually 85 by 2014.

                      69. This is all that is left of a Tornado once the valuable parts have been stripped out.   In an amazing co-incidence we
found that this airframe is the one which Hr Bruno Albers, the German aviation artist who we met later at his house in
Jever (See picture ??), had chosen as his subject for a painting of a Tornado when they first came into GAF service
many years before.   (Thanks Mick Ryan).
