Your visit to Jever

Dear Mr Goodwin, dear Ken,

I hope your group arrived back safely in England and that you were well able to
recall all your impressions.

Your visit was an impressive experience for me.   In a short time given I learnt a lot
about your work at Jever from 1951 to 1961.

A lot of Jever townsfolk who in those days had contact with English servicemen
were motivated by the articles in the press which followed your visit to me
in the townhall. Some were disappointed that they had not heard anything about it in
advance and that they were not able to participate. I believe that I was successful in
gaining their understanding that it was unfortunately not possible to allow all the
people concerned to take part in the meetings. In all events it is a pleasure for me, as
Mayoress, that we still have close connections with you and your comrades and that
we in Jever talk about "our Brits" again.

in the name of the Jever town I would like to thank you once again for the revival of old
memories brought about by your visit: 'it was a really good idea!'

I would like to thank you once again most heartily for your kind invitation to 'supper'
at the airfield. I very much enjoyed it.

Unfortunately I understand your language considerably better than I can speak it.
Consequently my participation in the conversation was unfortunately restricted. I
hope you did not interpret that as a lack of interest.

The picture which was presented to me has already found an appropriate position in
my office. a splendid memento for me.

I enclose the articles from the press about your visit by your organisation "RAF
Jever". I am sure that you and your comrades will be interested in them.

Please pass on my thanks together with my best wishes personally to Lady Hine
and Sir Patrick.

Jever town and I shall always retain happy memories of the comrades of "RAF
Jever".

Should you ever wish to pay us another visit you are always heartily welcome.

I wish you and your comrades together with your wives and partners good health and
happiness so that we may meet again.

With best wishes

Your Angela Dankwardt
