Trevor "Happy" Pailing, Pete Haines, Colin Pratt and Jimmy Butler on the way to Sylt 1956.   Jimmy Butler tells me: "My daughter was 8 months old and I was 21,when I left to go to Sylt.   We lived at the airmans married quarters in Jever town, Boing Von Oldersum Strasse.   I drove a box van full of wireless gear to and from Sylt.   At Sylt I drove one of their vehicles, a Buzzing articulated bowser.   I was refuelling 93 Sqn kites.   I am pretty sure that 4 Sqn was also at Sylt at this time.   I'm certain they won the, fly, land, re-arm, refuel contest.   Remember lots of free crates of beer in the NAFFI."   If it was to support 93 Sqn detachment it would be August 1956.   Anyone know when it was for sure?   93 Sqn were there in Aug 56 and 4 Sqn in May 56.
(Thanks to Colin Pratt, Trevor Pailing and Jimmy Butler.)
