93 Sqn Linebook No. 2 - Page 48 NORDENEY INCIDENT   Hard, Sam and R.N. were strolling back from the beach & the cracker harmlessly minding their own business & looking at fetlocks when they were lured by the devil in the form of the galloping Major Barton and a 101 S.U. reprobate Ginger Lacey into the Germania Hotel.   "You must have lobster - its an experience - this was crawling over the bar 20 minutes ago," "- no not really expensive - about a pound the man said."   "I think we will stay here its bloody nice and the you can really taste the sherry in the soup".   THE BOYS WERE PERSUADED TO HAVE TWO LOBSTERS BY THE WAITER - BEFORE THEY ARRIVED, THE GALLOPING MAJOR'S BILL CAME -
45 D.M.   (At Jan2014 prices=£83.18 ).   EXIT MAJOR AND GINGER FROM THE HOTEL AND ISLAND.   SAM BEGINS TO WONDER WHEN WE WILL HAVE TO START WASHING UP.   SAM DOESN'T LIKE LOBSTER ANYWAY BUT HE NOW KNOWS THEY ARE NOT JUST WARM BLOODED RED CREATURES THAT YOU KNOCK ON THE HEAD AND EAT RAW WHEN THEY HAVE COOLED.   (Their total bill for 1,750 grms (about 4 lbs) of lobster, a salad and 9 beers came to DM85.80 or £7 5s 11d then and at Jan2014 prices today=£158.66 - the lobster alone cost £31.87 per lb at today's prices.   The salad cost, at today's prices, £4.62 and the beers were £7.16 each).   (Thanks to RAF Museum.)
