An interesting document and story behind it from the early days after WWII.  Ronald Stock who is involved in the history of Oldenburg and who has had some help from Robbie Roberts 5352 Airfield Construction Branch, has sent me this story about the above document:
"During my last trip to our aunt, Elfriede Oltmanns, and uncle in sunny California, I coincidentally spoke with my aunt about Jever, (where she was born), and "Jever Steam Laundry".   Until her emigration to the USA in 1952 she lived in Jever in the Schlosserstraße.   Since 1943 she had been studying singing in Oldenburg at the Gesangs- und Klavierschule at Dammbleiche.   She even showed me one of the military government exemptions issued by 321st Detachment at Jever which allowed her to cross the Ems-Jade-Kanal (E. J. canal) to reach Oldenburg.   [This is reproduced above]   After she finished her degree at the Gesangsschule, among other things she took part in the "Mexborough Musical Competition Festival" in 1950 and achieved 2nd prize.   Living in England for one year she was the only German participant.   In December 1951 she even sang at Thornhill Parish Church.   Later, as I mentioned before, she returned to Germany.   Shortly after that she emigrated to California.   There she worked for PAN AM, but she never gave up her singing and she also stayed in contact with her British friends for many years.   She still remembers a Mr. Flowers, (who has now passed away), of RAF Oldenburg.
I know, this story has nothing to do with "Jever Steam Laundry", but I think it is worth mentioning, because it shows the valuable significance of a single Military Government Exemption (No. C 9006643) given to her by the British Armed Forces.   (Thanks to Ronald Stock.)
