Standard Operational Procedures for
No. 122 Wing RAF Jever
                           RESTRICTED. Page 5

	                                APPENDIX 'D' TO JEVER WING
	                                STANDARD OPERATIONAL PROCEDURES.

                          Q.G.H / G.C.A.

1. This procedure is used then weather conditions preclude a normal circuit
after let-down through cloud. It is mandatory when the airfield state is
Amber 2 or worse.

2. The formation leader is to request this let-down in the same way as when
requesting a Q.G.H.

3. When the leader announces that he is descending, the second pair, which
will be echelon ed on the port, will time 10 seconds and commence their descent
10 degrees away from the leader's heading.

4. All alterations of heading given to the leader including the inbound turn,
will be followed at 10 seconds interval by the second pair.

5. Both sections are to call when turning inbound, this will assist G.C.A.
Director, who should have taken over from the Approach Controller, in
positively identifying each section.

6. On the run in to G.C.A. and before the call for "Vital Actions", it
is important that the lead pair do not let their speed fall below 250 kts.
The second pair should fly at 240 kts. and subsequent pairs at 10 kts slower.
This will avoid concertinering.

7. Throughout the whole procedure it is imperative that all speeds and
headings, timings and angles of bank are flown very accurately, as experience
has shown that small errors easily build up into disastrous confusion.

                             RESTRICTED
