M A Cunningham, E J Gifford, A H Cavanagh, J R Pratt (Cpt), A E Bain, P J Yates, W R E Short - 7May58 Alan Cavanagh sent in the above photograph with the following narrative: Please find attached a document completed by me in the 101 S.U. Drawing Office to commemorate the 1957/ 58 Sevens Competition.   The lettering style on this document was used for all your aircraft call signs displayed on the wall in the Brockzetel Operations Room.   No doubt I produced one or more of your personal call signs after May 1958 (when I arrived on 93 Sqn - Webmaster).   It was a major operation each time they were up-dated.   Another long task for me and a colleague was to re-paint the map on the huge plotting table in the same room. W.R.E. 'Bob 'Short (Rossall) and I (Arnold) both played for Fylde R.U.F.C. upon our demobilisation in 1958 with the likes of Malcolm Phillips (last year I painted a portrait for him in recognition of his election as President of the R.F.U.), Roger Utley and Brian Ashton, and we both were members of the Lancashire County Senior Squad in the early Sixties.   I met up with Bob just last year at a Fylde Reunion and we recalled the fun we had whilst together as denizens of Block 40 at R.A.F. Jever.    Bob, a fine athlete, also ran and swam for the station.   One abiding memory I have is the privilege of being inspected in my room by 'Ginger' Lacey who was attired in a black Crombie overcoat and bowler hat!   (Click to see 4 Sqn F540 Report).   (Thanks Alan Cavanagh)
