INTRODUCTION         1.     Another successful month for the Squadron despite the Battle Flight commitment. The month ended most encouragingly on another high weapons achievement.         OPERATIONS         2. Flying in the initial part of the month was concentrated on high level work which includes both Operational Cine on the weapons side and Broadcast Control from the tactical aspect.  A certain amount of serious weapons system handling is always a useful prelude to a session of firing and this policy seemed to be proved by the week's air to ground firing at Ströhen Range from the 24th to 28th of the month. Despite only an average of a little under three shoots per pilot, the overall Squadron average of 49.44% was yet another proof of the Squadron's inherent superiority in this field.  It is hoped that future sessions allowing perhaps more consolidation for the junior pilots might make a squadron target of 60% not an impossibility. 3.     Battle Flight from 8th to 10th, 18th to 20th, and on the 24th, was as usual carried out with efficiency as was proved by the creditable performance of the Squadron on the three scrambles received during the session.  Naturally some flying time was lost to the Squadron through this commitment. 4.     Total hours for October, 1960 ........            238.35         Total sorties                               .........            219. 5.     5.25 hours were flown at night during this month.         PERSONNEL         6. Hopkins. 7.     No pilots attended courses this month.         ADMINISTRATION          8.     After the Squadron efforts by both groundcrew and ground equipment on behalf of the Command Gunnery Team, the month has been spent checking inventories.  It is creditable that little or no equipment has been misplaced as a result of some two months operation away from base, together with moves involving many thousands of miles by road transport.         GENERAL         9.
