Monday 3rd November - Friday 7th November 1958 		                                                                                            The squadron was on duty Battle Flight
from Tuesday 4th November to Monday 10th November but were not scrambled.   There was
bad weather for most of this period and not very much flying.   Night flying was planned
for Monday but was cancelled because of the weather.   On Wednesday Flt. Lt. J.J. Parker
gave a lecture on D.M.E., B.A.B.S. and Green Salad.   As from 1st November Flt. Lt.
T.A.K. Wood, Flt. Lt. P.A. Barrow, Fg. Off. M.A. Harvey and Plt. Off. M.A.F. Ryan were
made operational.   In an attempt to find more accurate fuel consumption figures,
Flt. Lt. Barrey, Station P.A.I., flew a series of sorties in the Hunter both clean and tanked configurations. |

Monday 10th November, -Friday 14th November, 1958 		                                                                                                   A col in the pressure pattern giving
light and variable winds kept the station in fog for most of this period.   There was
however, a good days flying on Monday with a successful night flying programme in the
evening but apart from this, and one Vampire T.11 sortie on Friday afternoon there was
no flying.   Fg. Off. D.J. Gleen returned from West Raynham a qualified I.R.E. on
		Tuesday 11th November. |

Monday 17th November - Saturday 22nd November, 1958 		                                                                                                       There was little flying during this
period as weather conditions were usually between Amber 1 and 3.   Night flying was
planned for Monday, Tuesday and Friday.   Bad weather stopped night flying after only 3
sorties on Monday and cancelled all night flying on Tuesday.   On Friday there were only
two aircraft serviceable by the end of the day so the programme was again cancelled.
Fg. Off. P Davies was posted from the Squadron on Monday 17th November as range officer
at Nordhorn.   Fg. Off. J.T. Hall was posted to the Squadron on Thursday 20th November
from the O.C.U. at Chivenor.   As we were behind on the flying commitment a programme
was attempted on Saturday morning but had to be cancelled as the airfield was red.
Plt. Off. M.A.F. Ryan went on the aircraft Recognition course at West Malling from
19th to 25th November.   Fg. Off. A.G. Talbot was promoted to Flt. Lt. on 17th November. |

Monday 24th November - Sunday 30th November, 1958 		                                                                                                Battle Flight duties were undertaken for the
period Tuesday 25th November to Monday 1st December 1958.   There was no scrambles.
Due to very bad weather there was again very little flying during this period and no night
flying was possible.   Saturday was the best day when 19 sorties were flown.   Sqn. Ldr.
H Minnis was taken sick with mumps on Tuesday 25th November and Flt. Lt. J.J. Parker
assumed command of the Squadron.   Flt. Lt. C.W. Timms took over 'A' Flight vice Flt. Lt.
Bingham who is due to leave the Squadron on the 8th December.   Flt. Lt. P Raeburn

		OPERATIONAL
The extremely poor weather during November resulted in restricted flying and
also caused the cancellation of several nights flying programmes.   Two aircraft have been
at the C.M.U. Laarbruch for the whole month and this together with two weeks of Battle
Flight reduced the number of available aircraft that could be utilised.   The flying
training has been rather restricted due to high level battle formation exercises and P.I.s
followed by cine gun exercises.   It is hoped that better weather next month will enable
the Squadron to achieve a more balanced training programme, especially in the low level
role, and air to ground firing. |
