The O.C., nine pilots and most of the ground crew today moved to JEVER by rail and road. Apart from Fg. Off. HUGHES who is in charge of the rear party, the remaining pilots have been detached to 14 and 118 Squadrons for continuation flying. |

These three days were spent "arriving" at JEVER. Two pilots from WEST RAYNHAM have been attached to the Squadron for the period of conversion. One of the two, Flt. Lt. McELHAW combined two Hunter air tests with practice demonstrations for the forthcoming visit of the Chief of the Italian Air Staff. |

This afternoon, the Chief of the Italian Air Staff accompanied by the C. in C. 2nd A.T.A.F., the A.O.C. No. 2 Group and other high ranking officers inspected the Squadron, the first Hunter Squadron on the Continent. Flt. Lt. McELHAW gave a very interesting and impressive demonstration of the Hunter after the inspection. |

Hopes of having our first Hunter serviceable today did not materialise. |

The first Hunter became available on the 26th, and by the evening of the 29th, with
serviceability alternating between one and three, all the pilots on the Squadron at
JEVER had flown their first solo. Fg. Off. HUGHES flew in from FASSBERG on the 28th,
returning the same day. |
