Agenda for 2Jan60
The proprietors of the establishment known colloquially as
"Dirty Dick's" have rather injudiciously agreed to let us again
hold our A.G.M. in the upstairs bar of their boozer on the evening
of Saturday the 2nd January, 1960.
Because of their inability to allow us the use of a private
room (they haven't got one) throwing-out time will be 10:30p.m.
It is therefore obvious that the meeting must commence promptly
at opening time.
The business of the past year has given rise to many points
for discussion and the proposed agenda is as follows:-
1. A scheme for free gifts to customers whose weekly return
of retrievable Y-fronts to J.S.L. exceeds the past year's norm
of five (5). Proposals as to the nature of such gifts should be
submitted to the secretary before the meeting by personal letter.
2. The serious manning problems at certain branches caused
by Branch Managers undertaking the extra-strenuous duty of
matrimony and by very senior officials becoming even More Senior
and leaving their respective laundries.
3. A take-over bid by Mr. Charles Clore.
4. The opening of a branch in the Eastern Mediterranean by
Head Jockstrapwasher Bodger Edwards.
5. What action is to be taken against W.....'s Brewery as
a result of our Research Unit's discovery that a mixture of
1 pint W.....'s Best Bitter, 1/2 BOT Pernod and equal parts of
Syrup of Figs and Prune-juice results in a highly detrimental
effect on the u/w of customers formerly nurtured on Jever
Export Pilsener.
6. The washing of Beautiful Ladies smalls by inexpert and
unqualified apprentices, leading to an end product of heavily
starched roll-ons and panties.
We expect this agenda to make for about five minutes discussion
and there will then be a four hour interval for refreshments.
The secretary would be very grateful for any launderale
correspondence, as this year's laundry-book contains very few entries.
Although the A.G.M. will be advertised in a national magazine,
members are requested to circulate the gen through the normal
J.S.L. Dingleberry Vine.
