Picture from Book by Heinz Knoke showing him standing by his aircraft with 9 Allied Kills painted on the tailplane at Jever in about 1943.   It is thought that he might have been the Chief Flying Instructor of the Jever Gliding Club after the war.   Roy Rimington, who ran the RAF Jever Gliding Club says: "The reference to the German gliding club was probably to the club which used to operate from Mariensiel near Wilhelmshaven.  This, I believe, closed in the 1950s and some members joined us at Jever bringing with them an old winch and a very basic SG 38 glider."   [Click to see Heinz JKnoke painting hanging in the Officers Mess at GAF Jever today.]   (Thanks to Mervyn Hodson.)
