Station Commander's Security Check

Ken Senar writes:-

I well remember Alan Fairfax and me being briefed by Gp. Capt. Powell-Sheddon to do a sub-rosa security check on as many offices as we could manage before midnight one dark night.   The object was to collect all the Classified (green and pink) files we found on desks and in insecure places and take them to his house.

We donned denims over our uniforms and climbed into locked buildings through insecure windows, including SHQ, and went through unlocked drawers in as many offices as we could.   We had a problem - we found so many we had a job to carry them out of windows and had to hide them in the trees before moving on to the next building, etc.   We staggered to the Groupie's house with them, as ordered.

Next morning, in his office, we explained everything.   There was hell to pay, and considerable embarrassment for some Senior Officers.   We were sworn to secrecy and our names were never disclosed - until now!
