For those of us who have had the opportunity to visit the Officers Mess at Jever over the last few years will certainly have noticed the painting of the 118 Sqn Hunter that hangs in the corridor leading to the Dining Room.   This newspaper report, early 2001?, will give us a little background info on this painting.   (Which has already been well photographed by Chris Stone-2005/157 and Pete Jarvis-2006/191)
Translation: "Some 45 years ago the British Air Commodore Ken Goodwin, who served at Jever as a Flt/Lt flying the Hunter Mk.4, had his beloved aircraft painted flying past the squadron hangars by the Jever artist Bruno Albers.   After all these years this wonderful oil painting has now been returned to its place of origin, as Air Commodore Goodwin has presented it to the Jagdbombergeschwader 38 'Friesland'.   Before it could take an honoured place in the corridor of the Officers' Mess however, Bruno Albers once again took possession of his earlier work and restored it.   Last weekend he handed over the painting to the Kommodore of the JaboG 38 'F', Oberst Manfred Molitor who was very pleased to receive this historical document.   "This is where it really belongs" he said."
(Thanks to Maurice Parker.)
