Ooops! 2 Sqn Swift U XD930 on the grass.  Category 4 damage.  (Click to see).  Merv tells me that he believes it was Flt Lt Al Ibbett's aircraft which had to forced land following an undercarriage uplock malfunction which was common in those days.  Wed 5Nov58.   (Mike Ibbett, Al's son, wrote on 30Nov16: "The tail plane identity marking is a "Y", not a "U".   As this photo was given to my dad as a memento(!), I would like to suggest this was the plane he crash-landed in and the other plane must have been involved in a similar incident which as Merv recounted, seemed to happen with monotonous regularity.")   F540 reports a nose-wheel up landing in Nov58 by Flt Lt John Watson - I suspect that this is that aircraft. (Click to see F540 report)   Swift XD973 "U" arrived on 2 Sqn on Fri 7Nov58 and left on Tue 7Feb61 for 60 MU.   (Thanks to Merv Hodson)
