little flying was possible due to serviceability.

sorties.

  21.5.59        An air to ground programme today was hampered by low cloud on the range, but a few
effective sorties were obtained.

  22-24.5.59        The Squadron stood down over this period in lieu of the Whitsun Grant when we were
on Battle Flight duties.
 
  25.5.59        With the A.O.C.'s inspection due on the 29th. May the flying programme is slowly
tapering off and secondary duties are absorbing a large number of our available pilots.
Flight Lieutenant F.R. Lund will be away until 29th. May doing his I.R.E. re-rating at
R.A.F. Bruggen.   Pilot Officer D. Barr is away this week on the 2nd. T.A.F. Aviation
Medicine Course at R.A.F. Wildenwrath.

  28.5.59        Our only flying today was an A.O.C. fly past rehearsal of five aircraft, and some
aerobatic practices for individual demonstrations.   Flying Officer R.D. Jarvis left
on the I.R.E.'s course at West Raynham.

  29.5.59        A.O.C.'s Inspection day.   The Squadron flew a successful fly past and Flt. Lt.
M.J. Tyrrell
did a display of low level aerobatics in a Hunter F.6 which gained him
the reserve position for any 2nd. T.A.F. Individual Aerobatics Display.

      Social and Domestic Summary
     On Tuesday, 19th May Flying Officer B. Dale was dined out by the Squadron on his
repatriation to the United Kingdom.   This was a very successful evening at the Haus
De Getroen in Jever Town.
     On Friday, 29th. May after the A.O.C.'s Parade and inspection No. 4 Squadron held
a Barbecue for all ranks and their wives and friends and this formed a very pleasant
evening with plenty of fire, food, music and drink.
