Sweet success - John thinks that this was the first time that Jever had won it, it was certainly the last!   At that time, with the closure impending the team were breaking up with postings out.   Paddy Purcell was actually at Laarbruch, but he made it back and certainly joined in the celebrations.   We were all so chuffed at our victory.   None more so than the Group Captain.   He always supported us, turning up in his Alfa Romeo sports car.   The Laarbruch team were really miffed at losing.   Even to this day my pal who was in the Laarbruch team can't believe that they lost.   Last time we met John showed him his winner's cup to confirm it!   The cup remains one of John's most treasured possessions.   (Thanks to John Mackenzie)
