As widely' advertised, the last Annual General Meeting was held on
13 Jan 90.   A most successful evening and I for one was grateful to Pete
Hunwick
for the use of bedspace on his carpet in the Club.   With the
absence of Pat King (dhoti duty in the Middle East) Ken Goodwin presided
and much fallout was in evidence.   Some 42 shareholders, plus the odd
wild card, attended.   Strangely, it was in some ways a different 42 from
those that attended the previous year.   A number of very welcome faces
returned to the wash-house after many a sweaty year - any chance this
time of marking the "fiftieth" by breaking the half-century?

As usual, Terry and June have confirmed that the "Three Compasses"
will be exclusively available to us with an extension to 23.30 hours and
if Charlie "Bakers Pole" Boyack hasn't forgotten his half-promise, music
should start at 19.30 hours.   Dingleberry fodder with a touch of the
Limpopo remains the order of the day.   To help the rain forests could
I ask you to use last year's map.   Any problems please let me know
Contacts are as follows:

Sad to relate, Bill Dodds died in February this year after a lengthy
illness;  I have retained his address in the attached updated list should
anyone wish to contact his widow.

Tentative plans are being made for a coach trip to Jever for the
Oktoberfest weekend, 3-7 October 91 - please pencil it in.   More detailed
information to follow when known.

Postage, as always, has been by kind permission of E.Pigdon who,
I am pleased to say, has made a full recovery after having his by-pass
re-piped.   Good news, Eric - keep taking the Pils.

Currently I am endeavouring to build up a photo collection of Jever
activity, especially JSL Reunions.   So far Ian Craig has been most
generous and if anyone else has some "spares" I would be most grateful.
Please put a note and date on the back so I can get them in some sort
of order.

Finally, to whet your appetite and rekindle the urge, I enclose
another entry from the archives.   For those who can't make it this time,
the "second Saturday in 1992" will be 11th Jan. Please make a note.

Looking forward to seeing you at steaming time - shreddies to the
fore.

Sec's afterthought - is Pat King really using the right detergent -
something seems to have gone horribly wrong.

Translation of BeBe Sharman's Letter:

Deare Secretarie,

A filthy epistle has just reached my Inne tray,
and because my finger was inn in the local Inne, replyinge has been,
verrily, up your steamer, delayed.   The odoure of this toke is merely
that wythe high pryces of Quinke the undersigned scrybe has
economysed wythe diluted panti-straynings, now in verrie
great demand in Smethwicke as a substitute for Bitter Lemon.
It does my hearte indeed good to see that the Shareholders have
been called together for the Annual undies wash. and I for
one, am preparing for attendance.   I would then confirm my
attendance unless the following happens.   (1)  I catch Leprosie   (2)
My pants explode   (3)  I gette verrie drunk the night before
(4)  Sandstorme in Bishopsgate   (5)  Honoure Blackman asks me
to share her bedde.                      Yours faithfully,
