Firstly let me apologise for the late submission of this despatch
- 'admin problems' would cover a number of difficulties encountered.
Nevertheless, as forewarned in last year's epistle, the "Three Compasses"
is reserved exclusively for us on Sat.11 Jan 92. Terry and June will
open at 18.30 with an extension to 23.59 hrs and the kitty is a starter
for £10. Finger held Dingleberries and intermittent gulps of Limpopo
will form the basis of fodder for the evening. Contacts are as follows:
Ken Goodwin: RAF Locking, Weston-Super-Mare, Avon BS24 7AA
Tel.ext.244
Jeff Jeffrey: Work: FT1a, HQRAFSC, RAF Brampton, Huntingdon, Cambs.
Tel: 0480 52151, Ext 6846

The attendance at this years AGM was well down, decimated in the main
by the flu prevalent at the time - even Chairman Ken succumbed but at very
short notice and midst much evidence of brown scorch marks, Doug Adamson
proved a very able stand-in. A number of new/old faces were in attendance
and included Bugs Bendell with kind assistance from Jan Madelin - super
effort Bugs. Shareholders will be pleased to note that the "company's"
finances appeared in fine fettle. A raffle of one bottle of Jever Pils,
kindly donated by Barry Dale, raised no less that £105 for the Gt.Ormond
Street Hospital for children. The "Golden Share" award this year went
to Pete Hunwick in recognition of his valuable efforts in the more formative
years of the business. Pete, please don't forget to bring it with you
this year - regrettably nothing is forever.
Unfortunately, support at the meeting for the proposed October trip
to Jever was disappointing and made it not worthwhile pursuing in 91.
I am making another attempt for 12-17 May 92 and hope we will be able to
generate a viable party. The initial plan is for a 'stag' sortie but
open to wives, should sufficient places be available, hence the basis for
the attached questionnaire which I would be grateful if you would complete
and return to me by 14 Feb.92.
Sad to relate we have news that we have lost a number of our fellow
members, namely Plum Plumtree, Bill Sykes, Jim Yates, Don Riley and, most
recently, Stanford Howard.
Postage, as always, has been by kind permission of Eric Pigdon who,
I gather, has recovered so well that he now only needs to work two days
a week. Some bypass.
Looking forward to seeing you at steaming time - 18.30 hrs. For
those of you who can't make it this year, please note that all being well
it will be same place same time on Sat 9th Jan 93 - that's if you can't
join the trip to Jever either. Please try.

"The Blue Train"
Jever Revisited 12-17 May 92
Transport: Transportation will be by Executive coach (49 seater with toilet
facilities). 1 Alka-Seltzer cabinet also included.
Dates: p.m. Tuesday, 12th May - a.m. Sunday, 17th May, 1992.
Itinerary:
12th May Huntingdon/Kings Cross; overnight 12/13 May - Harwich to Hook of Holland
13 May To Jever
14/15 May Local activity hopefully to include evening visit to the Mess plus tour
of the base, visits to Jever Pils brewery plus Wilhemshaven also to be
considered. Any other suggestions? Open to offers. Maybe a Father
Marquis mystery tour of the Bremen nightspots?
16 May Jever to Hook of Holland via Arnhem, Holland. Overnight ferry to Harwich
16/17 May.
17 May a.m. Harwich to Kings Cross/Huntingdon.
Costings:
a. Coach - approx.£60 per person
b. Cost per person of return overnight ferry with sleeping
berth (shared cabin) - approx.£43.
Costings are based on a party of 30.
Accommodation: Advice is that service accommodation, if available,
would be fairly basic. Propose, therefore, to go for local hotel accommodation for 3
nights in Jever if possible. Cost to be finalised but in the order of £20 per person
per night, bed and breakfast. Perhaps the bigger the party the greater the discount.
Final details: As yet a number of details have yet to be finalised. However, at this
stage it would be very helpful if fellow steamers could complete the attached chit. It
will help to provide an initial indication of the likely response.
